Fisherman's Wharf Port Aransas Flounder Tournament Rules

  1. Rules, including all printed rules and those available online at fishermanswharfporta.com are all subject to change. It is the responsibility of all participants of the tournament to abide by the tournament rules. Once entry form has been paid and signed, you have agreed to abide by the tournament rules and policies.
  2. Entrants MUST comply with all Federal, State, and Local fishing regulations. Any illegal fish brought to be weighed-in will be disqualified from the tournament immediately.
  3. In the event that TPWD changes season dates or closes the season all together, the tournament will change accordingly.
  4. Entry forms MUST be filled out at Port Aransas Fisherman’s Wharf, 900 Tarpon St. Port Aransas, TX. Entrants are urged to keep entry form as proof of entry.
  5. You MUST be entered into the tournament, entry fees paid, and form signed, before departing to fishing grounds. If you have not been registered for the tournament, come back and weigh-in a fish, it will not be eligible for the tournament.
  6. Individual Anglers may enter tournament at any time by paying the entry fee and submitting the entry form. Once you have paid the entry fee and signed the form, fish on!
  7. Flounder HOOK AND LINE dates: Tournament dates: October 1st through October 31 with the mandatory TPWD break when fishing stops from November 1-December 14 and begins again December 15-January 15. Once the tournament is over, no more flounder may be weighed in, even if the season runs past the tournament.
  8. Flounder minimum length: 15in. With no maximum
  9. FISHING STARTS for Flounder on October 1st at 12:01am. FISHING STOPS for Flounder on October 31 at 11:59 pm, and per TPWD regulations- fishing for Flounder closes from November 1 to December 14.  Fishing for flounder will resume for the tournament on December 15th and continue to January 15 at 11:59pm.
  10. Tournament FISHING ENDS for Flounder on January 15 at 11:59pm even if flounder season is still open.
    1. All fish must be brought to Fisherman’s Wharf by a tournament registered angler.
    2. Weigh Station is open from 9am to 7pm. If Flounder is caught after 7pm, fish must be brought back to Fisherman’s Wharf to be weighed the next morning (during weigh-in hours).
    3. Fish must be weighed in at the Fisherman’s Wharf fish cleaning house. The fish house is open from 9:00am- 7:00pm. Once fish has been weighed, the official weigh-in form will be filled out and signed. Registered angler will receive a copy and will need to hold onto it as proof of weigh-in.
    4. FIRST FISH WEIGHED PREVAILS -Weight will be the main form of competition, in case of a tiebreaker, after weight it will go to length, after length it will go to time weighed in.
    5. Anglers CANNOT enter both (FLOUNDER BOAT and/or HOOK AND LINE/WALK AND GIG) tournaments. However, rules are as follows:  If Gigging from boat, you must be entered into boat tournament($200.00 entry fee), If using hook and line and fishing from boat, you must enter the hook and line tournament as a separate entry($100.00).  Wade fishing hook and line fishing or Wade giggingoutside of a boat is allowed.  Only those entered in the Flounder boat tournament gigging must stay in the boat to harvest tournament eligible flounder.
    6. WINNERS will be announced on January 17th
    7. Prize money will be equal to all entry fees minus 15%.
    8. THIS IS A WINNER TAKE ALL TOURNAMENT
    9. By entering this tournament, you agree to submit to polygraph. Officials can order a polygraph at any time.
    10. All participants fish at your own risk, we urge all anglers to make sound decisions when it comes to weather and abiding by fishing laws.
    11. Port Aransas Fisherman’s Wharf is not responsible for any accidents or injuries that may occur during any tournament.
    12. NO CANCELLATIONS or refunds will be made. Once entered into tournament, you may fish until the closing date January 15.
